Howdy, campers!
Camp Hyrule 2003 begins on Monday, and here at Nintendo Headquarters we're
getting really excited about what we're hoping will be the best camp ever.
You have been assigned to Cabin #5, and your Cabin Counselors will be NOA
Shaun, NOA Hanzo, NOA DudeLove and NOA Taylor (NOA stands for Nintendo of
America). Camp Hyrule begins at 6:00 am PDT on August 11, and ends the
evening of August 15.
When you click "Enter Camp" at www.camphyrule.com on Monday, the first
thing you'll see is the main map of camp. You can explore tons of chat
rooms by clicking around on this main map. Camp Hyrule bulletin boards are
also accessible on the map. Click on the picture of the cabins and you'll
be able to check out all of this year's cabins. Click on your cabin's door
to enter your Cabin Chat. You can chat at Camp Hyrule whenever it's open,
but you should be sure to show up for at least one of your Cabin Chats
every day.
Here is your Cabin Chat schedule (all times are Pacific Daylight-Savings
Time):
10:00 - 11:00 am
and
6:00 - 7:00 pm
A little friendly competition between cabins never hurts, and that's why we
hold a Camp Hyrule Contest every year. This year, the cabins have been
broken down into two teams: a Mario Kart team and an F-Zero GX team. Each
cabin is represented by different characters from each game. Your cabin is
on the F-Zero GX Team, and you're represented by Captain Falcon.
By participating in Camp Hyrule activities throughout the week, you can
earn Power Points for your cabin, which are used to fuel your vehicle as it
races around the Camp Hyrule Circuit track. You can tell which cabin is in
the lead by checking the Leaderboard. On Friday, the Camp Directors will
reward prizes based on your cabin's performance throughout the week.
On the first day of camp, you'll decide on a name for your cabin during
your first cabin chat. Also, everyone in your cabin will have the chance to
design an official cabin flag. If you want to get started on it now, go for
it! The image should be 200 (w) x 150 (h) pixels, formatted as a jpg, pct,
bmp or gif file. Your counselor will give you more information about where
to send your completed design when camp begins.
To avoid technical difficulties, make sure that you have all of the
necessary free downloads and plug-ins listed below.

Hey there campers!
Welcome to the first day of Camp Hyrule 2003!
Firstly, we'd like to thank each and every one of you for attending Camp
Hyrule 2003. This is Nintendo's biggest online event of the year, and it's
thanks to dedicated campers like you that this event is such a huge success
year after year.
It is not our intention to frighten anyone, but we feel obligated to inform
you that it appears that someone -- or perhaps someTHING -- has attempted
to ruin our fun at camp this year.
You've probably noticed that the Nintendo GameCube Game Boy Advance Cables
which connect your cabins to NOA HQ appear to have been chewed straight
through. This has resulted in temporary power outages to all cabins, but
rest assured that your Camp Directors are doing everything we can to remedy
the situation. There is still plenty of power at NOA Headquarters (NOA HQ)
of course, so don't worry, your Camp Directors are still enjoying hot
showers and video games.
The mysterious trouble-maker was not content with simply severing the
GCN/GBA Cables, though. Our 1080° Avalanche snowboard lift was also
disabled by the devious villain, so unfortunately there is no snowboarding
on Mt. Nintendo today.
Since your Camp Directors are busy repairing the broken cables, we could
REALLY use your help in fixing the 1080° Avalanche snowboard lift. If you'd
like to help, travel to Mt. Nintendo and play the game you find there.
Perhaps by tomorrow the lift will be operating normally.
Don't forget! Today is the day that you and your cabin-mates can name your
cabin. Bring your ideas to your first Cabin Chat of the day to vote for the
best name. By naming your cabin, you'll earn FIVE POWER POINTS for your
cabin.
Another thing you can do today is design your official cabin flag. If you'd
like to participate in this activity, create an image 200 (w) x 150 (h)
pixels formatted as a jpg, pct, bmp or gif file. Send the picture of your
flag to cabinflag@noa.nintendo.com. IMPORTANT!! Be sure to include your
cabin number in the subject line. So, if you are in Cabin 2, the subject
line should read "Cabin 2." If you do not include you cabin number, your
cabin will not receive credit for your work. All entries must be received
by 8:00 am PDT Tuesday morning. Camp Directors will select the best flag,
and post it on the flagpole outside of your cabin. Once your flag is
flying, you'll earn TEN POWER POINTS for your cabin.
Another way you can earn points for your cabin is by participating in the
activities found in the Trading Post. Be sure to visit the Trading Post for
more information.
Don't feel like participating in any activities? No problem! If you'd
prefer, you can just relax at the Pokémon Center, practice your back stroke
at Lake Webaconda or get some grub at Kirby's Mess Hall. It's totally up to
you!
If you need help, be sure to visit the First Aid Hut.
Have a Great Day,
Camp Directors
Subject: Loft Monster? - Received: 8/11/03 7:25 AM PDT
Good Morning Campers.
This is an official announcement from your Camp Hyrule Directors. Because
of the power outage that has affected all cabins, campers are hereby
requested to STAY OUT of their Cabin Lofts. Your Camp Counselor should have
the loft area of your Cabin boarded up by nightfall.
We do not mean to cause alarm. If everyone follows the rules, we can surely
avoid the ... "incidents" which have occurred in the past.
Thank you.
Camp Directors.
Subject: Good Morning Campers! - Received: 8/12/03 6:28 AM PDT
Good morning, campers!
Despite all of the trouble we've encountered so far, yesterday sure was a
fun day of camp! Hopefully you've had the chance to make a lot of new
friends and explore new places.
Thank you very much for your hard work yesterday. We're pleased to report
that the 1080° Avalanche snowboard lift has been fully repaired! Extreme
sports fans will be happy to learn that snowboarding has now re-opened on
Mt. Nintendo.
We're also quite proud of the fact that we were able repair one of the
Nintendo GameCube Game Boy Advance cables yesterday. This still leaves most
campers without electricity of course, but at least we still have full
power at NOA HQ. You wouldn't believe how much fun we had last night
playing Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour!
Unfortunately, while NOA Rushmore was laying the smack down on the rest of
us, the enigmatic villain struck again. This time, he totally trashed the
F-Zero GX portion of the Camp Hyrule Circuit track! Since your Camp
Directors will be busy playing -- er, FIXING the GCN/GBA cables, we could
really use your help. If you have time today, please stop by F-Zero GX
portion of the track near the Lost Woods. You'll find a game there which
you can play to help us make the necessary repairs.
Also, we'd like to let you know about another opportunity to earn points
for your cabin. Your cabin could use a Cabin Mascot! This could either be a
Nintendo character, a picture of your favorite pet or basically anything at
all. Send a picture of what you think should be your Cabin Mascot to
mascot@noa.nintendo.com. IMPORTANT!! Be sure to include your cabin number
in the subject line. So, if you are in Cabin 7, the subject line should
read "Cabin 7." If you do not include you cabin number, your cabin will not
receive credit for your work. All entries must be received by 8:00 am PST
Wednesday morning. You'll receive 10 POWER POINTS for having a Cabin Mascot.
If lounging around in the Camp Hyrule Library is just too stressful for ya,
be sure to check out the Trading Post to participate in some fun
activities. It's a great way to earn Power Points for your cabin!
Happy Tuesday!

Subject: Loft Report - Received: 8/12/02 6:29 AM PDT
Greetings Campers
Why is it that every year, despite our best efforts and noblest intentions,
SOME campers simply refuse to follow instructions? Despite our warning
yesterday, it appears that many campers decided to take a closer look at
their cabin lofts.
During this morning's inspections, your Camp Hyrule directors found that
numerous cabins' loft locking mechanisms had been tampered with. Quite
simply, this is UNACCEPTABLE behavior. It may interest you to know that no
fewer than 14 campers did not show up for roll-call this morning.
Let us be frank. Your Camp Directors have reason to believe that there is
something strange happening in the lofts of our cabins this year. Prior to
the opening of camp, we wired each cabin loft with electric force fields
designed to restrain even the strongest beast. We knew that these electric
fences could keep whatever is living in those lofts at bay, but alas, with
the power outages we've suffered our plan has proven inadequate.
If you're up for it, stop by the Trading Post today and take a look at a
picture NOA Taylor took of this strange creature before camp opened. It's a
very poor picture, but it's all we have at this point.
We have two things to ask of every camper. First, please DO NOT tamper with
locking mechanisms on your cabin loft. Second, please DO NOT tell your
parents about this.
Thank you
Camp Directors

Hello Campers,
We'd like to thank you for following our instructions and staying away from your lofts last evening. Unfortunately, one of your esteemed Camp Directors was not as cautious. Late last evening, the elusive and enigmatic NOA Alan decided to do something about this "Loft Monster."
Without telling any other Camp Directors, NOA Alan snuck into Cabin 7 armed only with a camera and a can of bug spray. We regret to inform you that NOA Alan has not been seen since.
While inspecting Cabin 7 this morning, NOA Mac found nothing but a few candy wrappers and a camera at the base of the ladder leading to the loft. Although the lens of the camera was broken, the film was not damaged. Please stop by the Trading Post today to see the photo NOA Alan snapped before he disappeared. It's still pretty blurry, but it's the best picture we've seen so far. If we can figure out what it is, then perhaps we can capture it.
And please ... be careful.

Howdy Campers!
We hope you've been having fun at Camp so far, and we're happy to announce that your Camp Directors have come through for you once again. That's right, we've now repaired TWO of the broken Nintendo GameCube Game Boy Advance cables. No need to thank us -- it's our job. At this rate, we may very well restore electricity to all cabins just in time for the Camp Hyrule 2003 Closing Ceremonies. We're certain that you don't mind reading by candlelight or taking cold showers. This is a camp after all, and roughing it is what it's all about!
Unfortunately, we continue to be harassed by the mysterious evil-doer who has been trashing camp. Everyone did a great job yesterday in fixing the F-Zero GX portion of the Camp Hyrule Circuit track, but now the Mario Kart straight-away has been vandalized. Once again, we'd like to ask you all to help us fix up that area. We still have two more GCN/GBA Cables to repair, and besides, we'll be very busy watching NOA Taylor play Pokémon Pinball: Ruby & Sapphire through her new Game Boy Player.
Also, be sure to stop by the Amphitheater at 3:00pm Pacific Time this afternoon to chat with Lawrence Schwedler, Audio Director for Nintendo Software Technology. Lawrence is the man responsible for the music you hear in games like Wave Race: Blue Storm, Pokémon Puzzle League, Crystalis and more. Right now he's working on 1080°: Avalanche for Nintendo GameCube!
Please look out for any suspicious activity, and immediately notify a Camp Counselor if you notice anything out of the ordinary.
Oh yeah ... and have fun!

What's up Campers!
You've undoubtedly noticed by now that your Camp Directors succeeded in repairing yet another Nintendo GameCube Game Boy Advance Cable. This incredible accomplishment should really go down in the annals of great Camp Director moments. Really, it should. If we keep it up at this rate, all you cute little campers will actually get to take a hot shower before your parents come to pick you up.
While we were sleeping peacefully last night, the elusive villain struck again. As you can see, the Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour golf course has been defaced with the same glee that our other prized landmarks were vandalized. Please stop by the Mario Golf area today and help us out by playing the game you find there. If we all work together, we just might be able to catch the creep who's been messing with camp.
In other news, tomorrow we'll be hosting the Camp Hyrule closing ceremonies in the Amphitheater. Bring some tissues, 'cause we'll be bidding a tearful farewell to another great year of camp. Every year we give out End-Of-Camp Awards at the closing ceremonies, based on a number of crazy categories. Check out the following categories below, and vote for the camper who you think would be the perfect candidate. And hey, show some Camp Hyrule pride and don't vote for yourself, okay?

So, if you are in Cabin 10, the subject line should read "Cabin 10."
Enjoy the sunshine,
Camp Directors
Subject: Loft Mosnter[their typo, not mine] Revealed! - Received: 8/14/03 7:12 AM PDT
Awesome news, campers!
Late yesterday evening, your Camp Directors held a candle-light vigil in honor of NOA Alan around the Camp Hyrule bonfire. Deeply saddened and uncharacteristically moved by the event, the Directors mustered up enough courage to finally do something about this "Loft Monster." The brave group stormed into Cabin 2's loft and snapped a nearly perfect picture of the vile creature.
Unfortunately, NOA Dano forgot to put film in the camera. Luckily, though, a group of adventurous campers had a similar idea of their own and were able to take a great picture which has been posted in the Trading Post.
If you think you know the identity of the Loft Monster, send your guess to loftmonster@noa.nintendo.com by 8:00 am PDT tomorrow. IMPORTANT!! Be sure to include your cabin number in the subject line. So, if you are in Cabin 6, the subject line should read "Cabin 6." If you do not include you cabin number, your cabin will not receive credit for your guess. We'll earn ONE POINT for our cabin for each correct answer. You're only allowed to send one guess to this address, so make sure you get it right the first time.
Thank you for your help, and please continue to be cautious around the loft until the Loft Monster is safely captured.

Subject: The Last Day - Received: 8/15/03 6:17 AM PDT
Greetings Campers,
Awesome news! It looks like Camp Hyrule is finally in tip-top shape. We want to thank you again for all of your hard work this week. Your tireless labor gave us plenty of time to get really good at Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour, F-Zero GX, Mario Kart: Double Dash!! and all sorts of other games. And guess what? We finally fixed all of the Nintendo GameCube Game Boy Advance Cables! You have electricity now, but of course, last night was the final night of Camp Hyrule. Oh well. We're sure you don't mind.
It looks like we finally chased that trouble maker out of Camp Hyrule, too. NOA Andy, NOA Dano and NOA Troll set out this morning to track down the criminal, and we have high hopes that he -- or she -- or IT -- will be apprehended before the day is over. We're just bursting with optimism. Everything looks great around here today, except for that big ol' crack that's been growing in the middle of camp. Don't worry, though. It's probably just the ground settling. No biggie.
Thanks again for making Camp Hyrule 2003 such a huge success, and don't forget to attend the Camp Hyrule Closing Ceremonies in the Amphitheater today at 4:00pm PDT. We've had a ton of fun this week, and we hope that you've had a good time as well. Hopefully we'll see you next year at Camp Hyrule 2004! Enjoy the rest of your summer to the fullest, and play lots of video games! :)
Sincerely,
Camp Directors
